Good solutions don't self themselves

News

The summer issue of DARKBLUE Jet magazine, available to passengers aboard Aeropartner flights, features an interview with one of Edhouse’s founders, Radoslav Slovák. In the piece titled "A Good Solution Doesn’t Sell Itself," he reflects on the Czech IT business, global competition, and why successful software isn’t built in a garage alone.

The interview touches on several key themes. One of them is the need for more confidence within the Czech IT sector – letting go of the idea that a good product will “sell itself” and learning to take it to market, even in the form of a rough prototype. Radoslav openly critiques the lingering habit of Czech companies to fine-tune products endlessly while the rest of the world is already selling.

“We tend to polish a product to perfection before we even start offering or testing it.”

He also addresses current challenges in education, artificial intelligence, and the globalization of software development. He stresses the importance of solving real problems – not just crafting elegant solutions – and argues that the greatest value is created where development cannot be outsourced to cheap labor. Whether it's software for electron microscopes or production control systems, that’s where true impact lies.

Despite its technological maturity, the Czech Republic often behaves as if it’s content being Europe’s assembly line, Radoslav says. He reminds us that the future of Czech IT depends on courage, education, and the ability to deliver value that clients are truly willing to pay for.
